Extra-Curricular Handbook
PURPOSE STATEMENT
An individual’s total education extends beyond the classroom. The purpose of an effective extracurricular program must be to provide each student with opportunities for emotional, cultural, mental, physical, and social growth. This growth can be accomplished through activities that support and advance the curriculum, promote common interest, develop a sense of ownership in the school, and reflect and enhance the goals of the school district. In order to accomplish this purpose, the extracurricular program should exhibit the following characteristics:
High level of participation
Equal access for all students
Responsiveness to student’s interest and talents
Faculty participation and support
Interaction with parents and community
Diverse opportunities
Development of leadership qualities
Enjoyable experiences and positive attitudes
Promotion of a curiosity about an interest in many different activities
I encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities and get the most out of your years at Monona Grove.
